Waste Management Classroom Presentations
Northern Peninsula Regional
Service Board would like to inform schools in Subregion 1, 2 & 3 that the Regional Coordinator is available annually
to give presentations to any/all grades in a classroom based setting. Topics will be on various issues and also will
depend on the level of the grade. Listed below are the lesson plans available for this year. We encourage
and welcome invitations from all schools in the region to contact the Coordinator to set a date.
Grades: K - 6 "REACHING THE GOAL
OF CUTTING YOUR WASTE IN HALF", including fun games and craft activities that will give students
the understanding of the importance of protecting our environment.
Grades: 7 - 9 "PUTTING YOUR KNOWLEDGE INTO PRACTICE".
Grades: 10 -12 "OLD VERSUS NEW PROCEDURES OF WASTE MANAGEMENT".
NPRSB encourges
all schools to participate in these presentations on Solid Waste Mangement, made possible by funds received from the Multi-Material
Stewardship Board. 2006/2007 has been a very sucessful year for classroom presentations. This indicates that
schools are promoting and educating students in proper waste disposal and safe environmental practices. Thanks to the
grade 12 students at Harriot Curtis Collegiate, St. Anthony, who participated in an essay challenge - "Waste Management
"Old vs New"". Congratulations to the winners: 1st place, Wilson Pilgrim, 2nd place, Chantell Ricks
and 3rd place, Sherri Elliott. (picture below)
